The annual Green River Melon Days Scholarship Pageant kicks off the Melon Days celebration every year. Contestants must be between the ages of 15 and 24, reside, work or attend school in Green River for six months prior to the pageant, and be a legal resident of the United States. A contestant represents that she is of good moral character.

Scholarship funds may be applied to tuition, textbooks, supplies, academic fees and other appropriate educational expenses. Payment of all approved expenditures will be made directly to the college, university or other accredited institution. Scholarship amounts are: Queen – $500, 1st Attendant – $250, 2nd Attendant – $250. If the winners complete 40 hours of volunteer service at a city approved venue anytime during the year following their win then the scholarship will be doubled by the City of Green River.

If you interested in competing for this year’s pageant, there will be an informational meeting at 7pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at City Hall. All questions and concerns can be addressed at this meeting.

The pageant will be held at Green River High School on September 16, 2016 at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now at Green River City Hall: $5 per ticket.

Good Luck Ladies!
